Greater Manchester Older People's Network

The Working Groups
Our working groups meet bi-monthly, tackling key issues affecting older adults across Greater Manchester. In partnership with local stakeholders, they amplify the voices of older people, co-produce solutions, and drive tangible changes through advocacy and action.
Health & Social Care
Working Group
Our Health & Social Care Working Group is a friendly forum where older people from across Greater Manchester come together to talk about the issues that matter most when it comes to health, care, and wellbeing.

We meet one every two months to share experiences, learn from guest speakers, and have conversations around topics such as access to GP services, support in later life, right in care settings, and ways to stay well in our communities. The group regularly welcomes speakers from organisations such as AgeUK, the NHS, the University of Manchester, and the Greater Manchester Aging Hub, giving members the chance to hear about new ideas, and directly share their perspectives with people shaping services.

We meet every 8 weeks and work closely with organisations such as Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to discuss topics like bus services, accessible streets, travel information, and safe public spaces. Members also take part in consultations and conversations that help shape initiatives such as the Bee Network and wider transport planning across the region.

By sharing real experiences of using public transportation, walking, and moving around our communities, the group helps ensure that the voices of older people are be heard by the organisations designing and delivering transport services.
