Summer Social in Support of Loneliness Awareness Week

Today, our members came together for an enjoyable social event in support of Loneliness Awareness Week. Special guest, comedian Smug Roberts, brought plenty of humour and laughter to the day, as he led his 'Pick-a-Picture' activity, using personal photographs to spark conversations around connection, belonging, and the people, places, and moments that matter to us.

Standing Up, Standing Down Workshop

GMOPN members were invited to our Standing Up, Standing Down workshop, facilitated by Juliette Yardley from The People Alchemist. Together, we explored confidence, communication, and the balance between speaking up and stepping back to create space where everyone feels heard, valued, and able to take part.

The GMOPN Steering Group came together in May 2026 for a productive meeting focused on upcoming priorities, projects, and events across Greater Manchester. It was also a pleasure to welcome new members to the group and continue building connections and collaboration across our network.

Community Day at Broadhurst Park, Moston

19 April 2026

The GMOPN team joined the Community Day event hosted by FC United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park in Moston, celebrating North Manchester’s vibrant community. We connected with local residents face-to-face and shared our work that ensures older people’s voices are heard across Greater Manchester. In honour of the community day, we offered an activity that highlighted the special places in the community, those places that bring us together and foster a sense of belonging. We asked attendees to share the places that make them feel part of the community or where the often connect with others. Participants enjoyed sharing their community places which can be seen in the photos here.
