We're looking for new Steering Group members to help guide the direction of the GMOPN.​  This is a key leadership role within the network.

About the role

As a Steering Group member, you'll:

  • Help set the overall direction and priorities of the GMOPN

  • Contribute to discussions that shape projects, events and partnerships

  • Represent the views and experiences of older people in your area or community. 

  • Work collaboratively with other members and GMOPN Staff 

What you'll gain:

  • A direct tole in shaping the work that impacts older people in Greater Manchester

  • Experience in a strategic, leadership-focused role

  • Opportunities to connect with partners and decision makers

  • Support and training from the GMOPN team and fellow members.

 

Time commitment:

  • ​The Steering Group meets every 8 weeks (Typically in person)

  • Occasional involvement in additional discussions, events, or working groups.

We're looking for co-chairs to help lead our working groups and support older people to share their voices.  This is a great opportunity to step into a leadership role, work alongside others, and help guide conversations on issues that matter to older people.

About the Role: 

As a Co-chair, you'll work in partnership with another co-chair to:

  • Help plan and guide Working Group meetings

  • Create a welcoming, inclusive space for discussion

  • Support members to share their views and experiences

  • Work with GMOPN staff to shape agendas and priorities

  • Represent your group in wider network conversations where needed.

What you'll gain:

  • A chance to influence local decisions

  • Experience in a leadership and facilitation role

  • Opportunities to connect with others across Greater Manchester

  • Support and training from the GMOPN team and wider network

Time commitment:

  • ​Working groups meet every 8 weeks

  • Some additional time to help plan meetings or follow up actions.

The Older People's Equality Panel is a volunteer advisory group that works directly with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to ensure older people's voices are heard in policy and decision-making.

About the Role: 

As a  panel member, you will:

  • Share your lived experience to help influence polices and services

  • Advise and challenge leaders, including the Mayor and GMCA

  • Highlight issues that matter most to older people

  • Take part in discussions, projects, and consultations

  • Attend regular panel meetings

What you'll gain:

  • An opportunity to directly influence change at a Greater Manchester level

  • Experience contributing to policy and decision-making

  • The change to connect with others and be part of a supportive network

  • A platform to ensure older people's voices are heard 

Time commitment:

  • The equality panel meets every 8 weeks (hybrid meetings)​
